Of Mice and Men Study Guide Resources: The Great Depression Pictures, Images and Video Clips

Back in the day, if we were to learn anything about the Great Depression or background information on Of Mice and Men, we had very few options: (1) Listen to our boring teacher drone on and on; (2) Go to the library and read about it in books; (3) Ask our grandparents.

Now there’s YouTube.

(There are 5 pages of resources, so make sure you look at the bottom of the post for pages 2-5)

Video Images from The Great Depression

The first clip presents, in addition to Great Depression images, facts about the Great Depression. The next one contains scenes from the Great Depression. The last video contains images with Bing Crosby’s “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” It rocks. By the way, you can make each video full screen by clicking on the box in the lower right hand corner of the video. You probably already knew that.
