Anti-Bullying Lesson Plan

I’ll be honest. When my school district forced upon us a Cultural Awareness Unit that included an anti-bullying lesson plan, I bristled a little. I’m an English teacher, after all, not a counselor. But since the people that send me a paycheck twice a month bullied me into doing it, I complied.

I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Not only does the lesson plan send a powerful message about bullying, it actually covers some ELA Common Core Standards.

I did not create this anti-bullying lesson plan, but I’m guessing the powers that be won’t mind if I share it with educators who want to end bullying at their school. I scanned in the documents and post them here.

  • L.9-10.1 – Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
  • L.9-10.2 – Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
  • SL.9-10.2 – Integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source.
